EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES FOR SCHOOLS

Our curriculum development project began in 2018 with funding from the Burlington County Division of Parks. In that initial phase, teachers from Westampton Middle School and Rancocas Valley High School worked with Timbuctoo Advisory Committee chairperson Guy Weston to develop materials in accordance with guidelines established by the New Jersey Department of Education. The project had been the brainchild of Weston, who observed the irony of his attending high school locally, but not learning about Timbuctoo until decades later when doing genealogy research.
Today, the project is managed by the Timbuctoo Historical Society with county funding. The project was presented at the New Jersey Education Association (NJEA) conference in Atlantic City in 2022 and 2024, as well as the Burlington County Education Association (BCEA) conference in Mount Laurel in 2023..
